During the summer, there is a lot of dust outside your house. However, as the wind blows, dust will definitely get inside your house. It is, therefore, possible that the windows, the cabinets, furniture, grill and curtains, and most parts of your home will get dusty.

As such, you may not be sure where to start, and that might make you feel overwhelmed. Nonetheless, we have eight easy summer cleaning tips from Philadelphia maids for you.

Attend To the Air Coolers

The air conditioning system features a dust filter. Filters can gather a lot of dust over a short time.  Dirty filters can cause health problems such as asthma to people with allergies.  So, ensure that you vacuum the air vents as well as registers to get rid of any dust accumulated there.

Grocery Bags

Summer is the time when you want to go to the market to buy vegetables, fruits, and other foodstuffs. However, during winter, all the grocery bags are in the store. They have gathered enough dust to make you sneeze just by pulling them out. Depending on their material, hand wash, or machine wash them before reuse.

Clean the Cabinets

At least, once every month, clean your cabinets. See, you always open your cabinet to pick something every time you are preparing or cooking a meal, right? Do you always wash your hands before opening the cabinets? We bet not. So, dip a clean towel into a solution of washing detergent and water. Wipe the cabinet. Pay extra attention to the areas close to the knobs.

Allow Light In

Windows collect lots of dust. Amazingly, it takes just a short time to clean one window. Use water, sponge, and some detergent to clean. You may either buy a washing detergent or use a homemade one. To dry the windows, use a newspaper or a squeegee. Both do a perfect job.

Do A Thorough Sweep

The first thing when you start doing the cleaning is to sweep. Why? Some debris may be too large to use a mop to wash them away.  Also, areas that are hard to reach needs a broom to remove any cobwebs and debris stuck there. So, sweep and remove any debris on the walls before mopping or vacuum cleaning.

Clean and Rearrange The Furniture

Without a doubt, furniture gathers dust every day, especially if used outside the house. Regardless of whether it is wooden, plastic, or glass made furniture, wipe them with a soft towel using some warm soapy water. Next, rearrange the furniture to give the area a new appearance.

Replace the Shower Curtain

Of course, you are not using the shower curtains to dry your body. However, they will always get dirty. Since they rarely have stains, use any washing detergent you have as long as it is not harsh on the material. Machine wash, then air dry it.

Trap Dust at the Door

It is necessary to have at least two doors mats in your home; one inside and the other one outside. Though the inside doesn’t collect much dust like the outside, they both need to be cleaned.  If they are not much dusty, vacuum clean. Otherwise, use a hose to clean them.
