Removing Wet Uncured Spray Foam Insulation From Your Skin

Your first reaction will be to try to wipe it off, DON’T!  That’s the worst thing that you can do. Spray foam takes a few minutes to fully cure and dry before it comes solid.  it’s one of the most sticky, messy things you can encounter when dealing with building products.

There are solvents available like acetone, that dissolve wet uncured spray foam very easily. Most nail polish removers are acetone and should also work well as a substitute. Once the acetone comes into contact with the wet foam “blob”, it will melt it away into a more liquid form that is much easier to wipe away and clean from your skin according to the experts from AllState Spray Foam Insulation.

Remember that acetone does remove the natural oils from your skin so be sure to moisturize the area after to replenish the oils in your skin, or the area may become irritated, crack, and then bleed from scratching or rubbing the area because it is so dry.

Removing Dry, Cured Spray Foam Insulation On Your Skin

The easiest solution is to sit still letting the foam completely dry then pull it off your skin. It might take a few arm hairs along with the hardened foam-blob but it should come off the skin fairly easy depending on the amount of body hair. If there is too much hair embedded into the foam chunk you are trying to remove, you may have to shave the hair away or break up the foam-blob into smaller pieces.

So you have tried everything and there is still some dried foam on your skin.  You can’t seem to get it off, what now? Well, a good old pumice stone should do the trick! Sand down the foam by rubbing the pumice stone on the hard foam like you would on the callus on your heel.

Another trick to help remove foam from your hands or skin; exfoliating soaps. This is basically soap with sand-like exfoliating beads embedded into the soap so when you wash your skin.  It really scrubs the dead skin off and along with any residue from the foam.

If you have sanded, scrubbed, and washed and there’s still foam left on your skin you can apply petroleum jelly to the area, cover it with a glove, and let the jelly soak in. After an hour, take off the glove and wash with warm water and soap. In that way you’re keep your skin in good health.
