How to upgrade your garage
For many of us, our garage is our sanctuary. If you’re using your garage to do some body or mechanical work on your car or use it as a workshop, it’s essential that it’s well organized and configured for work. However, we often neglect this area and end up with a space that makes work difficult.
Here are a few simple ways that you can upgrade your garage.
Optimize Storage
Storage should be the first place where you should start. If you get creative, there is tons of free space on your walls or even ceilings for extra storage. Ceiling platforms that use pulleys to move up or down are a great and original way to add storage space to your garage. You can also find cabinets perfect for storage in your garage, movable shelf systems, hook and hanger kits, and more. With all of these options you should have plenty of space for your cars and other big pieces of equipment.
Improve Your Garage Door
A lot of people tend to neglect this, but your garage door is what will make the first impression when people see your house, so you have to go with a door that is both stylish and durable enough to last a few years, even decades. You also have to evaluate the general look and color patterns of the house and go for a door that adds to it. Don’t just go for the default white door if you really want your house to stand out.
Upgrade Your Interior Door as Well
This is also a very neglected area that needs special attention if you want your garage to look better overall. While it may look like a small detail, you should replace any door that is warped or in poor condition. One of the easiest ways to do this is by repainting it. Make sure that you choose a color that doesn’t clash with the rest of the room if you want to give it a cohesive look.
Don’t Neglect the Floors
Flooring also plays a major part in upgrading a garage. Out of all modifications, this will usually have the stronger effect. A concrete floor might be easy to maintain and cheap, but it’s also very boring. You could try polished concrete floor, this is rather inexpensive but it looks great. You could go creative by adding an epoxy coating to the floor of your garage if you want to give it a marble like look. Or you could be even more creative and add some tiles if you’re feeling adventurous, just make sure that you’re prepared for the extra maintenance.
Add a Car Lift
Nothing will impress your friends and give your garage a high tech look more than a car lift. And no, car lifts don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. They’re also a great way to add space for another vehicle or leisure vehicles like ATV’s for instance.
As you can see, upgrading your garage can be easy if you know how to go about it. Make sure that you consider all the options in this article and use those that fit within your budget and work for you.
