Make Movie Nights So Much Better With These 6 Tips
Even though cinemas give us the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy a movie with excellent sound and visuals, sometimes you just want to be entertained from the comfort of your home, especially after a long day. The traffic, the crowd, and recently, covid, are all issues that affect a theatre experience.
So, if you want to give your at-home movie night experience a major upgrade, here are the six most important things to consider.
1. Location
It’s your home, you don’t need to be confined to your room or the lounge to watch a movie. You can watch a movie wherever you want. In fact, some other areas in the house might be a lot more enjoyable. If you have access to the roof why not take your home theatre upstairs and watch it under a starry night, cozy on a sofa, with a little fire going on the side. If you are having a cookout in the backyard, take your TV or projector and laptop out to the lawn and enjoy a movie while you grill some food on the BBQ and hang out with friends and family. Just getting out of a confined indoor space can completely change the movie experience.
2. Projectors
If you are going outdoors, consider getting a projector, it’s much easier to move around and it provides a massive screen to watch your movie on. In fact, a solid projector will not only show you clear images but you can get an outdoor projector that has a built-in sound system too. Moreover, you could also get a gaming-oriented projector. These offer fantastic movie experiences and you could whip out the PlayStation and enjoy your favorite game out on the terrace with a much bigger screen. If you want to enjoy in streamed movies on your projector then you’ll need a good laptop with thunderbolt.
3. Speakers
Even with great visual quality, the movie experience isn’t complete if you can’t match the picture with a high-quality sound experience. Most people aren’t willing to spend thousands of dollars on a home theatre system, so instead, you could choose a portable speaker like the JBL 5 which is far better than JBL Flip 4 and many others in its class. These small but powerful speakers give amazing sound quality and can be quite loud too, making them great for outdoor use.
4. Seating
Nothing ruins a movie experience more than an uncomfortable seat, especially when you have all the supplies and are ready for a movie marathon. Luckily, you don’t have to break the bank when looking for the perfect seating solution for a comfortable movie night. Even after you are done watching the movie, a nice sofa or gaming chair is the best furniture for everyday use. If you are looking to spruce it up a little more, you can always go for specialized theatre-style seats for your home which come loaded with cup holders and all the accessories you would need to keep you comfy throughout your movie.
5. Snacks
Watching a movie is incomplete with snacks, and you need to be well fed if you are going to do it right. However, microwave popcorn and bags of chips can get boring after a while, and they aren’t that filling either. Being at home gives you the luxury of having a lot more food options, so why not throw some wings into the air fryer, set a stew in the slow cooker, or bake a hearty dish of mac and cheese? Be sure to make food in bulk so you can reheat a serving when you feel the need to. Being at home also affords you the luxury of being able to order whatever food you like, whenever you like, and you aren’t restricted to what’s available at the theatre. If you can’t be bothered to cook and don’t want to pause the movie to get a bite, ordering in might be the best option.
6. Comfort
Even with your food ready and your sofa strategically placed in front of the screen, there is one more thing you can do to get even comfier, and that is to change into a pair of well-worn PJs. Don’t go for brand new ones, those are never comfy right out of the box. If it’s cold, you can snuggle up under a nice warm blanket on the sofa while in your loungewear. The great thing about watching movies at home is that you’re free to wear whatever you please and you don’t need to put on shoes!
Most people who think watching movies at home isn’t as fun as being in a theatre, probably don’t know how they can make the most of their experience at home. With these tried and tested strategies, even the most extreme theatre fan will have a hard time admitting that this movie night experience at home wasn’t worth it – you even save money with a home theatre! You can say goodbye to high-priced tickets and popcorn buckets, although you can always pamper yourself by splurging on high-end products which will definitely take the experience to the next level.
