If you have an infestation, here are several pests that invade a home and solutions on how to get rid of them.

Ants

Ants invest your home through holes in the walls, foundation, windows, doors, or by hanging tree limbs. The best way to remove ants from your home is with ant bait. This method will kill the colony of ants by bringing poison to the source.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are by far one of the hardest pests to get rid of because they are so indestructible. These pests get into your home the same way ants do. They can also get inside by transporting themselves on purses, backpacks, suitcases, and bags. Boric acid is one of the most effective ways to get rid of cockroaches. It is odorless and is safe around pets due to low toxicity.

Rodents

Rodents get into your home through cracks and holes. To differentiate between a rat and a mice infestation, you’ll look at the droppings and scratch or gnaw marks. Rat droppings are large whereas mice droppings are small. Size is relevant with scratch or gnaw marks. Rats will leave larger scratch and gnaw marks. If you see small scratches and chew marks, you probably have a mice infestation.

Moths

Like most pests, moths find their way inside through cracks and holes. Signs of a moth infestation are;

  • Holes in clothing
  • Larva on clothing
  • Larva on countertops or in the dark corners of your cupboards
  • Damage to fabrics; wool, cashmere, silk, or carpet

To solve a moth infestation, the first step is to determine which type of moths are infesting your home; pantry moths, carpet months, or clothing moths. For pantry moths, use herbs, spices, oils, and other home remedies to exterminate the moths. For carpet moths, sweep, mop, and vacuum regularly. For clothing moths, brush or comb through your clothes and wash them thoroughly. Then, store your clothes in containers with an air-tight seal. Moths aren’t indestructible like cockroaches, however, they are sneaky and hide their eggs and larva in places you wouldn’t expect to look.

Hiring An Exterminator

If your pest infestation is out of control or to overbearing for DIY household tricks, hiring a professional exterminator may be your best solution. Regardless of your pest problem, you can eliminate the problem with t price. If you have a rat infestation, find a Los Angeles rat control service.
