Kitchen and Bathrooms
The focus in the kitchen and bath should be that all sinks and faucets work and have no leaks. This includes the showerheads. Cabinets and flooring should be clean and free of dents, dings, and chips. All walls need to be painted and there should be no mold.
Bedrooms
Update any paint on the walls and clean curtains, especially if you plan on leaving them with the house. It makes the room feel more appealing.

Next, it’s time to take a look at other interior areas. Repair holes and minor dents and dings on walls and ceilings. A fresh coat of paint always helps. Choose neutral colors to prevent issues arround the new owners not sharing your tastes.
On floors replace anything that’s worn or unable to be cleaned. All the mechanical equipment in your house should be in good working order, such as the HVAC, water heaters, and smoke alarms. You probably have a good idea if your electrical system is up to code. If you don’t know, have it inspected. Repair anything that’s not up to standards. Any deficiencies will be caught with a home inspection and better to fix them now.
Don’t Forget the Exterior of Your Home
Garage doors should work smoothly and meet codes. Paint or replace exterior doors that show signs of wear and tear. It’s never a good idea to have a roof or foundation that needs repairs.
If you are planning on selling your house make sure they are repaired before your home goes on the market. Clean gutters and downspouts of any debris.
Curb Appeal
Make sure the outside of your home is free of leaves and flower beds are free of weeds. If you have a deck or porch they should be up to code and in good condition. The same is true for fences.
